Doll-interview reaction: Evaluating sexual abuse for preschool children

Abstract
This study was conducted to develop doll-interview criteria to evaluate sexual abuse on pre school children using 38-children ranging from 5 to 6 years. Each child was participated in an structured-interview session every other week during a month. At the first interview session, we did structural interview with a child using a normal doll and an assistant instrument, and the child had an another interview session after a week later with using an anatomical doll and an assistant instrument. We examined child¡¯s identification object toward dolls, the manner of undress a doll, sex behavior, play behavior, aggression behavior, gender difference, the difference and characteristic in terms of reaction among dolls. Based on these, we identified norm data for normal child, which are necessary to evaluate sexual abused child, and adequate usage for doll and usefulness. Normal doll and anatomical doll interview checklist were used as an evaluation tool, child¡¯s behaviors were video-taped, finally, three-raters evaluate the reliability of the checklist.
